I graduated from Bastyr University (Seattle Midwifery School) in Washington with a Master of Science in Midwifery in June 2011. While there I was honored to become the first recipient of the Myers Midwifery Scholarship Fund, awarded for academic excellence, student leadership and community service. In my former life I studied and worked as a classically trained trumpet player. I am originally from Australia but have lived in Calgary since marrying my best friend Mark in 1993.

I have been drawn to midwifery since before I was even pregnant with my first child - the whole family approach to prenatal care and the powerful effects it had on me and my family only confirmed for me that midwifery was what I REALLY wanted to do. Since then I have welcomed 3 babies into our family, all born under midwifery care in Calgary - Audrey (1997), Grayson (1999) and Kathryn (2001).

Before I began my midwifery training I attended hundreds of births as a doula and learned how important support is to the emotional and physical aspects of birth for families. During my practicum at Birth Partnership Midwives I attended over 130 births and also completed a month long placement as a volunteer midwife in Freeport, The Bahamas. I feel very blessed to have received my clinical training with the amazing midwives at Birth Partnership and am thrilled to be fulfilling my dream of supporting women and families as a Registered Midwife.
