Public Professional Bio
My aim is to offer care that helps clients and their families feel safe, respected and heard. I strive to be a good ally to, and advocate for targeted and marginalized populations. I realize that this requires life-long learning, and I am committed to the self-reflection and self-improvement required to best support my clients.
I first learned about Midwifery care while working abroad in Cologne, Germany. During my stay, I shadowed a solo Midwife for several months. This experience offered a glimpse into the European healthcare system, in which midwives are well integrated and attend over 75% of births. Based on this experience, I became passionate about interprofessional collaboration, and striving to help further integrate midwives into the Canadian healthcare system.
Upon returning to Canada, I worked as a birth Doula and attended the BMid program at MRU in Calgary. Since receiving my BMid, I have had the honour of supporting pregnant persons and their families in Edmonton.
