We’re honored to invite you to a powerful online learning session facilitated by Millicent Asiedu, registered social worker, mental health therapist, and Founder and Executive Director of the Mesh of Mothers Foundation Inc. (M.O.M) — an Edmonton-based nonprofit dedicated to providing culturally safe, trauma-informed maternal mental health support for Black mothers.
Date: Monday, December 1st Time: 12:30 – 2:00 PM (MT) Location: Online
Millicent is also the Owner and Clinical Director of Stillness Therapy and Consulting Services, where she provides compassionate, trauma-informed care to individuals and families. Recognized nationally and internationally as a passionate advocate for maternal and mental health, she was named one of Canada’s Top Black Women to Watch and a Change Maker in Canada in 2023.
This session will explore:
The intersectionality of race, motherhood, and mental health
The lived experiences of African, Caribbean, and Black (ACB) mothers during the perinatal period
How systemic barriers and cultural stigmas impact mental wellness and maternal outcomes
Strategies for fostering intentional allyship and advocacy in support of Black mothers
This is an important opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue, reflect on systemic inequities, and learn how to collectively drive maternal mental health equity.
