    AAM Members’ Forum

    AAM invites members to the AAM Members’ Forum—a dedicated space to share updates and accomplishments, raise current issues and concerns affecting midwives and the midwifery community, and connect with fellow members and Alberta Association of Midwives staff.

    In this forum, you’ll have the opportunity to:
    • Share practice updates and celebrate achievements
    • Raise issues and concerns impacting midwives and midwifery in Alberta
    • Engage in open dialogue with peers and AAM staff
    • Contribute your voice to shaping the direction and advocacy of the Association
    • Strengthen connection, collaboration, and collective problem-solving

    ESW Manual and Online Exam

    You must complete and pass the online ESW exam prior to attending the workshop. Participants will not be able to attend the skills workshop without an exam certificate. It takes 1-2 business days to gain access to the online exam, so please plan accordingly.

    PCOS in Practice: Recognize, Support, and Advocate for Your Clients

    AAM invites midwives to a special webinar on Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), facilitated by Dr. Jamie Laura Benham, MD, PhD, FRCPC (she/her) — Endocrinologist and Assistant Professor in the Departments of Medicine and Community Health Sciences at the Cumming School of Medicine. This session is designed to support midwives in recognizing, understanding, and managing PCOS across the lifespan and its implications for reproductive, pregnancy, and postpartum care.

    In this session, you’ll learn:

    • How to identify common and atypical presentations of PCOS, including menstrual irregularities, hyperandrogenic features, metabolic risk factors, and fertility concerns
    • The effects of PCOS on pregnancy outcomes, including hypertensive disorders, preterm birth, and other potential complications
    • Postpartum considerations for clients with PCOS, including breastfeeding challenges and long-term metabolic and reproductive health
    • How this knowledge can guide timely referrals, collaborative care, and informed counselling for your clients
