PCOS in Practice: Recognize, Support, and Advocate for Your Clients

AAM invites midwives to a special webinar on Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), facilitated by Dr. Jamie Laura Benham, MD, PhD, FRCPC (she/her) — Endocrinologist and Assistant Professor in the Departments of Medicine and Community Health Sciences at the Cumming School of Medicine. This session is designed to support midwives in recognizing, understanding, and managing PCOS across the lifespan and its implications for reproductive, pregnancy, and postpartum care.

In this session, you’ll learn:

  • How to identify common and atypical presentations of PCOS, including menstrual irregularities, hyperandrogenic features, metabolic risk factors, and fertility concerns
  • The effects of PCOS on pregnancy outcomes, including hypertensive disorders, preterm birth, and other potential complications
  • Postpartum considerations for clients with PCOS, including breastfeeding challenges and long-term metabolic and reproductive health
  • How this knowledge can guide timely referrals, collaborative care, and informed counselling for your clients

Date: Monday, March 30, 2026
Time: 1:00 PM MDT
Location: Online via Zoom

This session will be recorded, but live participation is encouraged to allow time for questions, discussion, and practical scenarios.

Midwives at all stages of practice; from new practitioners to those supporting clients with complex reproductive or metabolic health concerns.
